Explanation
The mortar used in dry-pack repair has a stiff consistency, allowing it to be tightly packed into prepared voids, holes, and narrow repair zones without excessive shrinkage. This makes it particularly suitable for repairing form-tie holes, honeycombing, small spalled areas, and defects around reinforcement.
The repair area must be properly cut back to sound concrete, cleaned, and preconditioned before placement. The mortar is then compacted in layers to achieve dense consolidation and strong bond performance.
Because of its low shrinkage and high compaction, dry-pack repair is often preferred where dimensional stability is critical. However, it is generally unsuitable for large-volume repairs or heavily loaded structural sections requiring full reinstatement systems.
